Media Release

12th April 2010

Tactronics Australasia has opted to integrate Secure Systems’ Silicon Data Vault (SDV) secure data storage technology to protect data generated and used by the Tactronics’ TAC-SINe system. The SDV provides hardware-based encryption and access controls to enforce strong data protection.

Tim Marshall, Managing Director, Tactronics Australasia said “The sophisticated TAC-SINe C4ISR [Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance] system enables a Defence force to extend its network centric capability into a combat zone. Until now data stored on the TAC-SINe hard disk drives (HDDs) was only physically secured, requiring the commander to order the removal of the HDDs if the vehicle had to be abandoned. Utilising the SDV within the TAC-SINe, total data security is achieved.”

“Using the SDV technology a user friendly and innovative solution was developed for the TAC-SINe C4ISR system” said Peter James, Managing Director of Secure Systems. “We tailored our Embedded SDV product, a secure 2.5” compatible HDD designed for embedded systems, to integrate seamlessly into the TAC-SINe system. We developed a solution that ensures a commander can, if necessary, abandon sensitive data in the combat zone with the assurance that the data is encrypted and inaccessible to hostile forces” he added.

Tactronics Australasia Pty Ltd is a supplier of Tactical Systems Integration Networks; its key product is the TAC-SINe. The primary function of the system is to provide true mobile Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capability across the network. The TAC-SINe open architecture allows for tactical systems to integrate, distribute and act as situational awareness for the modern Warfighter. Based on open architecture standards, the TAC-SINe system allows for network integration of a wide array of sensors, communications devices and application software.

Secure Systems Limited specialises in the development of secure hardware-based portable data storage technology for high assurance applications. It has designed and developed the award winning Silicon Data Vault technology which has been commercialised into a range of secure hard disk drives and portable storage devices that are manufactured in Australia.
